Submissions to the People's Inquiry have now closed.
Thanks to everyone who made a submission. We have received hundreds of submissions from individuals and organisations, and are currently working on analysing the submissions to produce a final report for the inquiry, to be released early 2017.
How about bringing in the revenue from those corporations, national and overseas, that are willfully, knowingly and wrongfully evading their tax share. We all know they’re doing it. One past treasurer, Joe Hockey, speaking in panic mode said “If we do, they’ll go offshore.” OK. Let’s be brave then and just do it. Clean up this tax avoidance scam. It’s a blight on Truth and the shortfall in revenue has to be made up by everybody else by guess what, maybe selling off public assets.
I long for Australia (any government) to take the lead in choosing the middle road, for justice and fairness for everybody through wise and compassionate choices in governance… the wise mind and the open heart. What a difference it would make, world wide, for many from different nations, weary at the machinations of their respective governments, would begin to trust, to breath the sweet clean air, to see again the sunshine in the day.
All Australians have a right to expect you “the elected government” to honour your pledge to serve (us) and to preserve our heritage regarding all services already in place.
It’s been disgusting watching the sell off of our land to overseas investors and the wreckless abandon regarding the destruction of our country by coal seam fracking which you have allowed against the wishes of the people you pretend to represent.
I for one am looking forward to the inclusion of parties like the The Australian Sovereignty Party to destroy this two party monopoly system.
Privatisation of these will gravely impact on those who need continued medical treatment – doctors visits, x-rays, pathology, follow-up treatment, etc. etc.
“PROFITS” will be the priority of privatisation NOT THE CARE OF PEOPLE. CEOs will want big wages and bonuses. All kinds of cuts, eg. staff, will be used to gain these Profits. How many Nursing Homes are uncovered as being inadequate, cutting costs and staff, abusing the elderly. WE CAN’T LET THIS HAPPEN !!!!!!
Politicians do not have to worry about their health care or the education of their children – they have made sure that all they need has been taken care of by abusing taxpayers money with a generous superannuation – they go on holidays with their families, flying first or business class, on taxpayers money – they have numerous “perks and entitlements” that we less fortunate people could never dream of. WHY DO THEY INSIST ON MAKING IT PAINFUL AND DIFFICULT FOR US LESS FORTUNATE ?
WHY IS THERE NO DISCUSSION ON THESE “PERKS AND ENTITLEMENTS” OF POLITICIANS. SURELY THERE COULD BE SAVING FROM THESE. THEY DO NOT WANT TO LOSE ANY OF THESE, AND WE DO NOT WANT TO LOSE OUR MEDICARE, TAFE, HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS, DISABILITY CARE, ETC, ETC, TO PRIVATISATION !!!!!!!!
WE, THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY, ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN BLOODY MONEY !!!
PRIVATISATION WILL RUIN THIS AND MAKE PRIVATE COMPANIES RICHER. THE LNP SEEM TO CATER TO THE RICH, AND STUFF THE POOR !!!!
DOES THE GOVERNMENT REALLY CARE ABOUT US ???? NO!! I DON’T THINK THEY DO.
WHAT LEGACY DO THEY WANT TO LEAVE – ONE WHERE THEY HAVE SOLD OUT THE PEOPLE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO GOVERN !!!! ARROGANCE !!!!!!!!!!
It has become a very obvious fact wherever you look worldwide. Wherever a country sells its assets to the highest ( …and sometimes not so highest) bidder, a slow decline in general social well-being follows. Eg. The USA medical system ! In America there is no medical safety net ! None !
Surely , medical and social services must be administered by and for the society for whom they are vital services , and for whom successful functioning is the whole point.
National assets must remain in the hands of the people who own them – Us – the people !
Medical and social assets are for the well being of the populace in its own control.
Corporate interests focus on maximising profits for shareholders . Corporations operating our vital services for profit , does not guarantee that society gets what it needs .
Frankly , we must be mad to trust the future well-being of ourselves in so many areas , to corporations who at the bottom line have their own financial agenda as their major focus!
It is the vital , intimate , humanising aspect of life we all share and want for future generations , created by those before us , the rich tapestry of influences which give the depth of knowledge and full understanding of the “coal-face” issues behind the establishment of public organisations and institutions.
These things can’t be just sold off ! You cannot sell human values !
I believe we need to change our approach in the public services sector from an outmoded highly administered top heavy one , to a pro-active , hands on approach ,right across all sectors of life .
The whole crux of the issue is whether we can be bothered to run our own services ; whether we are prepared to take responsibility to ensure that we maintain a life focussed on human values !
We need to maintain diversity of human skills and talents right through all levels of society. We won’t achieve this by selling off the farm !
Yours sincerely

Privatisation of public ultilies such as water, and power, public transport, have led to increased cost, and poorer service. Companies only care about making a profit, not about the public. Privatision of more public service can only lead to a reduced service for all, much along the lines of what has happened in America. I oppose further privatisation, it further enforces the widening gap between the haves and have nots, with more and more of the public being pulled into the have nots. The public pay taxes for which we are receiving very little of value. Don’t allow profit before people, which is all the current government, with it’s appalling record of human rights seem to care about. Privatisation can only lead to Australia becoming more of a third world country.
Nothing good has come out of privatisation, Government services are just that a service and or something that the PEOPLE OWN and when these are sold off the people suffer, We can not sit by and let them sell our services, since they have privatised the electricity here in victoria our bills are the highest in Australia and our service is the worst, we used to have the best health care in the world but if it is sold off we will become like America where poorer people die of very curable ailments because they cannot access quality health care. THIS can not be allowed to happen. and education should be available to all not just the rich. we can not let this happen.
Please hear our voice
Private enterprise for profit should NEVER run public sevices-especially essential ones like education, health care corrections, defence, taxation, welfare aviation,police/security and many others. These should NEVER be allowed to be run to maximize profits or cover costs of delivery.A government that taxes the rich and makes corporations pay tax and stops use of overseas tax havens and subsidies for harmful fossil fuels AND taxes resources (75% of the profits of which go out of the country could easily meet the costs of these essential services to the public.
