Privatization of our assets is a short term solution to balancing the budget and costs for services are subsequently always higher for the general population. Any government implementing privatization of public assets is signalling that “the economy” is more important than the well being of the people. There is a balance.

How about bringing in the revenue from those corporations, national and overseas, that are willfully, knowingly and wrongfully evading their tax share. We all know they’re doing it. One past treasurer, Joe Hockey, speaking in panic mode said “If we do, they’ll go offshore.” OK. Let’s be brave then and just do it. Clean up this tax avoidance scam. It’s a blight on Truth and the shortfall in revenue has to be made up by everybody else by guess what, maybe selling off public assets.

I long for Australia (any government) to take the lead in choosing the middle road, for justice and fairness for everybody through wise and compassionate choices in governance… the wise mind and the open heart. What a difference it would make, world wide, for many from different nations, weary at the machinations of their respective governments, would begin to trust, to breath the sweet clean air, to see again the sunshine in the day.

I don’t want to see the privatisation of government services…there is too much at stake.. Costs of services rise, inferior services are often given, jobs go off shore, workers rights are often sacrificed. We need to keep control of these important services… Aussie tax dollars for Australian government services.

Dear Mr turnbull it beggars belief that every government has to privatise our public services, which always end up being taken over by overseas companies and everything goes belly up and ends up being more expensive. It’s no wonder our country is going to the dogs and being bought out by China. I’m sure the government think the people are idiots and don’t listen to the people but just do they see fit and spend money on useless plebiscites rather than critical services eg. health and education, I really cringe for the future of my grandchildren and great grandchildren, it is only the wealthy who don’t give a damn as they don’t live in the real world any more.

Privatising essential services is so scary. Companies’ and corporations’ main aim is to make a profit. That means if something is not profitable it won’t be properly addressed. I am particularly concerned about people who live in regional and rural areas. Private companies are not going to focus on people in these areas because the profit won’t be there. That means that those areas will get inferior services and it will create more inequality than ever. Experiences with privatisation of services so far has not been particularly positive for those affected by it. It didn’t work in England – their public services are a mess. Please, don’t do the same to Australia.

I am so disappointed that Malcom Turnbull would be thinking of making PUBLIC serves to PRIVATE. Sounds more like America is. I have known cases that people have DIED because they couldn’t afford Private. Don’t turn this wonderful, caring, country into a divided line. Rich to the Right & poor to the left. So very SAD indeed.

Privatisation is essentially the transfer of public wealth to private profit. It is a legalised form of theft. In almost every case since this sorry process began, services have been degraded and the public interest has been diminished. Whether it is the Commonwealth Bank which has been transformed from ‘The People’s Bank’ to a corrupt entity that steals from its customers to the electricity utilities which instead of seeking to deliver electricity to the community at the lowest possible cost now gouge those least able to pay in pursuit of profits.Along the way they have frustrated moves towards renewable energy. In addition the privatisation of telecommunications is putting our national security in jeopardy as our defence and police rely on these services to do their job of protecting us from criminals and terrorists. We need our government to begin the process of reversing this so as to restore quality services delivered at lowest possible costs and keep their control in public hands.A good start would be to offer a one-of payment to States that nationalise services rather than the shocking practice brought in by the former Abbott Government which rewards this theft. the national interest demands that essential services are owned by the public.

At the end of the day the government is supposed to act according to the wishes of the electorate, not of corporations. It’s been very clear over the last few governments and including this one that politicians don’t respect the wishes of the general public. I do not support privatizing Any public service, whether it be medical, transportational, educational or any other body that was created to Serve the public.

All Australians have a right to expect you “the elected government” to honour your pledge to serve (us) and to preserve our heritage regarding all services already in place.

It’s been disgusting watching the sell off of our land to overseas investors and the wreckless abandon regarding the destruction of our country by coal seam fracking which you have allowed against the wishes of the people you pretend to represent.

I for one am looking forward to the inclusion of parties like the The Australian Sovereignty Party to destroy this two party monopoly system.

This is something only MILLIONAIRES would think of doing to the less fortunate people of Australia. MEDICARE, TAFE, HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS, DISABILITY CARE, ETC. SHOULD BE TOTALLY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GOVERNMENT.

Privatisation of these will gravely impact on those who need continued medical treatment – doctors visits, x-rays, pathology, follow-up treatment, etc. etc.

PROFITS” will be the priority of privatisation NOT THE CARE OF PEOPLE. CEOs will want big wages and bonuses. All kinds of cuts, eg. staff, will be used to gain these Profits. How many Nursing Homes are uncovered as being inadequate, cutting costs and staff, abusing the elderly. WE CAN’T LET THIS HAPPEN !!!!!!

Politicians do not have to worry about their health care or the education of their children – they have made sure that all they need has been taken care of by abusing taxpayers money with a generous superannuation – they go on holidays with their families, flying first or business class, on taxpayers money – they have numerous “perks and entitlements” that we less fortunate people could never dream of. WHY DO THEY INSIST ON MAKING IT PAINFUL AND DIFFICULT FOR US LESS FORTUNATE ?

    Dear Fellow Humans ,

It has become a very obvious fact wherever you look worldwide. Wherever a country sells its assets to the highest ( …and sometimes not so highest) bidder, a slow decline in general social well-being follows. Eg. The USA medical system ! In America there is no medical safety net ! None !

Surely , medical and social services must be administered by and for the society for whom they are vital services , and for whom successful functioning is the whole point.

National assets must remain in the hands of the people who own them – Us – the people !

Medical and social assets are for the well being of the populace in its own control.

Corporate interests focus on maximising profits for shareholders . Corporations operating our vital services for profit , does not guarantee that society gets what it needs .

Frankly , we must be mad to trust the future well-being of ourselves in so many areas , to corporations who at the bottom line have their own financial agenda as their major focus!

It is the vital , intimate , humanising aspect of life we all share and want for future generations , created by those before us , the rich tapestry of influences which give the depth of knowledge and full understanding of the “coal-face” issues behind the establishment of public organisations and institutions.

These things can’t be just sold off ! You cannot sell human values !

I believe we need to change our approach in the public services sector from an outmoded highly administered top heavy one , to a pro-active , hands on approach ,right across all sectors of life .

The whole crux of the issue is whether we can be bothered to run our own services ; whether we are prepared to take responsibility to ensure that we maintain a life focussed on human values !

We need to maintain diversity of human skills and talents right through all levels of society. We won’t achieve this by selling off the farm !

    Yours sincerely

As our public services are sold off, so too is any chance of holding government accountable for those services. Failure becomes a legal game by the new owner, and money is the primary target for every decision. Including decisions to alter levels of service available to our community. Selling public sector serivices is selling our democracy. No declaration against it was made at the last election by political parties dedicated to such direction. I see this as criminal behaviour.

I am writing to ask that the so called “Government” does not Privatise any of the Healthcare System or Medicare, TAFE, Hospitals, Schools or Disability Care. To privatise is to cause further hardship for those unable to pay the higher costs that inevitably come from these measures. Higher cost will mean people will go without vital necessaties just so that they can pay their higher Medicare, Healthcare, School fees. Medicare is for the people not multinational companies to make a profit from. remember all the privatisation that went on under Jeff Kennet and the higher costs that were imposed on people in Victoria.

Privatizing any of the Healthcare System or Medicare, TAFE, Hospitals, Schools or Disability Care will be a HUGE and COSTLY mistake, as further down the track all the above will cost infinitely more and the services of each will become more pressured and in demand. The SIMPLE answer is to NOT privatize any of them and keep the costing under control….none of these services was ever intended to be out of the control of the government and so they should remain exactly as they are for the good of all.

m writing to ask that the so called “Government” does not Privatise any of the Healthcare System or Medicare, TAFE, Hospitals, Schools or Disability Care. The nature of Private Enterprise is to deprive the public of as much as they can, so that that money can be put into Profits and massive Salaries, Bonus’s and Perks. As there is only one Medicare, there would not even be a competitive element to supposedly keep them from blatant Profiteering. People on low incomes would be forced to accept Private Big Business exploitation with no real recourse at all. Being told to “take it to the Ombudsman” or the like has never resulted in any real help I have found. The Ombudsman and similar watch-dog bodies need far more funding to be effective, otherwise they just become token qestures. Already Education and Medical services are crippling in cost. Every person I know in the lower income bracket or even lower middle income, have massive debts. I have massive debts. I have returned to University, and already the Student debt is almost insurmountable. This is blatant profiteering already. If the Government shirks it’s elected duty to provide reasonable services for us, the Australian people who elected them, then they are deceiving us and letting us down most shamefully. We elected these Politicians to serve us, the public dependent on them. If they take their massive salaries and do not do so, then they are robbing us. It is their duty, in all conscience, to provide good, high quality Public Health Care and Education. The rich can afford good quality education and let’s face it, who has ever seen a poor Politician? But privatised ‘Public’ Schools and Hospitals would just enable Big Business to shamelessly Profiteer and leave the Public bereft of any quality Education or Medical care. I most strongly ask that the Public Service be retained, and that all Public Schools, Hospitals, and Medical Services be kept Public and NOT be Privatised.

    Regarding Public Services

Privatisation of public ultilies such as water, and power, public transport, have led to increased cost, and poorer service. Companies only care about making a profit, not about the public. Privatision of more public service can only lead to a reduced service for all, much along the lines of what has happened in America. I oppose further privatisation, it further enforces the widening gap between the haves and have nots, with more and more of the public being pulled into the have nots. The public pay taxes for which we are receiving very little of value. Don’t allow profit before people, which is all the current government, with it’s appalling record of human rights seem to care about. Privatisation can only lead to Australia becoming more of a third world country.

Privatisation has never worked for the public, only for certain greedy individuals. I’m sick to death of hearing about how we need to further indenture the ordinary person in order to strengthen our economy – the so-called benefits of that NEVER make it down to the ones doing it the toughest, the ones who need it most. They just benefit our fat cat politicians and would-be politicians. You SWORE to SERVE the Australian people. Do your jobs, or be impeached. WAKE UP AUSTRALIA! Make these people obey the laws they pass only to hurt us and fatten themselves.

The Privatization of Public services is, like selling our jails to Mister Big amongst our criminal society. Making them luxury hotels for the worst of our violent and pedophile criminals. Or our Public services become another way for multinationals to squeeze out the best from our fair go community, to make Australia even worse looking in our western communities. Like the right wing of our Liberal party has managed to make us look like a turd amongst nations.

Nothing good has come out of privatisation, Government services are just that a service and or something that the people own, and when these are sold off the people suffer. We used to have the best health care in the world but if it is sold off we will become like America where poorer people die of very curable ailments because they cannot access quality health care. THIS can not be allowed to happen. and education should be available to all not just the rich. We can not let this happen.

Privatisation is limited and must only be available to that country’s citizens to run, not to International interests, then it becomes a MAJOR THREAT to our Nation and citizens paid for it, so citizens MUST vote before any sales occur (theft of public assets and funds), otherwise it is Treason and can be seen as a Terrorist Act.

The role of government is to serve the needs of its people. A public service is essential for this!!!

Private enterprise for profit should NEVER run public sevices-especially essential ones like education, health care corrections, defence, taxation, welfare aviation,police/security and many others. These should NEVER be allowed to be run to maximize profits or cover costs of delivery.A government that taxes the rich and makes corporations pay tax and stops use of overseas tax havens and subsidies for harmful fossil fuels AND taxes resources (75% of the profits of which go out of the country could easily meet the costs of these essential services to the public.
